streched subtitles fomat problem

Postby matazzo » 07 May 2024 15:11

Hello,

for some time now, it turns out that on some of my videos, the subtitles tracks are horizontaly streched. It seems that there is a problem in the format of the subtitles tracks. When I try to change the size, font or width mosaic in the advanced preferences/subtitles & OSD, nothing happens. When I run my video, there is a subtitle that display the title of the video during few second. And this subtitle has a normal format. I think that I change this subtile when I do the changes I described beore.
When I open the video in another video player, the subtitles work normaly.
But I remember that before, the subtitles used to work very well. It must be the cause of an update.

I can solve the problem by downloading an other subtitle with Vlsub and changing the text width directly inside the subtitle file that I converted beforehand in .txt format. But it is tiresome to do that for every videos.
I am looking for a solution to solve the problem permanently. I don't know if it happened to other peoples besides me, but I would be gratful if someone could lead me to a solution

I am sorry if you have difficulties to read me as I am french, but I hope you will be able to understand my problem.

SSA subtitles ? If so, make sure you are using VLC version 3.0.20 because it was a known issue which has been fixed in this version:

Thank you for your answer and for giding me to the right forum subject. I did not even know that it was a ssa issue.
Yes I think it is the same issue than the 3.0.19 version because the subtitles are exactly like the picture in the link. I am indeed using the last version of VLC 3.0.20. I tried to reinstall it, but same issue.
Do I have to wait for another version?

You didn't answer: are your subtitles in SSA format ? If so, then please upload the file to WeTransfer.com or Disroot.org and then post the link to the file here.

Sorry. Indeed, some of my subtitle files are in ass format. But for the subtitles tracks that are directly in the video, I don't know how we can know the subtitle format.
Besides, I have really a lot of subtitles files whith the problem, and I am not even talking about the videos where the subtitles tracks are already included, and thus, there is no side subtitle tracks I can upload.
So do I have to upload all of my corrupted subtitles files, or only one?

Here we are 06/17/2024 and the stretched subtitles in vlc player are still a problem. I know it's a vlc issue because in other players they are fine. Using 3.0.20 so not an old version issue either.

Downgraded to 3.0.18 and now subtitles work fine again. Let's get this fixed folks.

Well the latest version is 3.0.21. can't go back in time to fix 3.0.20.
