Can't unmute VLC

Postby pivo11 » 24 Mar 2024 13:40

G'day,

For some reason VLC became muted, probably because I did something without knowing it. In the toolbar under 'Audio' the mute button is checked with a red mark. No matter what I do it will not unmute. I have uninstalled and reinstalled VLC and the mute button remains checked. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Cheers,
Fritz

Menu Tools -> Preferences -> Audio, change the output module. Save and restart VLC.

Alternatively, open preferences and click on Reset preferences button. Save and restart VLC.

Open the Windows mixer whilst VLC is playing something, find the VLC stream in there, and fix the mute and volume there.

Thanks much, Gruko and Rémi, got the sound back. Funny thing, though, is that the mute button remains checked at all times, whether muted or not. No matter, the sound works. Thanks again.

Cheers,
Fritz
