Can't select the option casting devices

Hi all I have a question, my wife is using the latest version of vlc to watch video's, when she wants to cast a video the casting devices symbol isn't available to choose.
When I delete the app and reinstall it again it works but when I close the app and try it again it isn't working anymore.
Does anybody know how to get this working?
