[Solved] DVD couldn't be read

Postby Bobbert » 20 Feb 2024 21:38

Hey y'all, was having some issues using VLC to play DVDs on a Windows 10 device.

Was getting the usual errors like:
main debug: no access_demux modules matched
main debug: creating access: dvd:///E:/
main debug: (path: E:\)
main debug: looking for access module matching "dvd": 27 candidates
main debug: no access modules matched
lua debug: skipping script (unmatched scope) C:\Program

and the solution, which I couldn't find mentioned in other posts or the stickied threads:
Run VLC as Admin and suddenly I can play the DVD.

Hope this helps (and gets indexed by google so that maybe you don't spend 48 hours trying much more technical solutions to debug DVD playback issues).

Thanks for a great product/forum full of helpful posts.
