Convert Video to Black and White

Postby SeverianRandom » 19 Feb 2024 13:57

I've recently considered watching some videos in Black and White to create a sense of age for older video footage, especially those that are depicted before modern recording equipment.
I know VLC can play videos in black and white using Video Effects > Colour Extraction > FFFFFF
But, whilst this will play on a PC in this way, I'd like to be able to save a file and retain the colour extraction so this can be a separate file to the original.

Is there anyway that VLC will save the output in black and white? I've tried Convert - but it doesn't keep the Colour Extraction.

Any help or idea is greatly appreciated!

When you convert the video you need to add the filters you want to use in the conversion chain that are located in the menu Tools -> Preferences -> Show settings = All -> Video -> Filters

Don't forget to disable it when conversion is successfully done ;-)
