Unable to move toolbar to 2nd monitor

Postby gigguh » 27 Oct 2023 20:07

Hi everyone,

Happy Friday! Wanted to make a post and ask about the toolbar on VLC... I'll just get straight into it.
I've been using VLC since my Windows Media Center days using YAMMM, and for so long I could fullscreen a video, and move the toolbar off the screen onto my 2nd monitor.

Now it seems I can't do that anymore. My main PC running Windows 10 was able to do it, but for a few months it has stopped working. Countless reinstalls and one PC reset didn't resolve my issue. Same for my laptop :/

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you.

Here are my system specs if it helps - https://imgur.com/a/NPII8Ms

Moving a toolbar or taskbar to a second monitor can vary depending on your operating system. Here are some general steps you can follow for common operating systems:

For Windows:

Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar.
Make sure that the option "Lock the taskbar" is not checked. If it is checked, uncheck it.
Click and drag the taskbar to the monitor where you want it to appear. You can drag it to the top, bottom, left, or right side of the second monitor, depending on your preference.
Release the mouse button to drop the taskbar on the second monitor.
For macOS:

Click the Apple logo in the top-left corner and go to "System Preferences."
Click on "Displays."
In the Displays preferences, go to the "Arrangement" tab.
You will see a representation of your displays. Drag the menu bar from one display to the other to move the toolbar.
Remember that the exact steps may vary slightly depending on the version of your operating system. If these instructions don't work for you, please provide more details about your operating system version, and I'll try to provide more specific guidance.
I'm only talking about the toolbar in VLC, not the taskbar in Windows... I just want to be able to move the toolbar off VLC and have it float anywhere on my screen(s) like I used to.

I have the exact same thing, I lost the ability to move the control bar the the 2nd screen when in full screen mode (after I undock the control bar of course) to the 2nds screen after I upgraded to Windows 11 from windows 10.
Did you manage to find a solution to this issue?
