Setting Default Directory VLC

Postby robertdaleweir » 26 Jan 2024 21:05

Hi
I am trying to set a default directory that VLC can open in whenever started. I am using a Linux Distro Fedora 38 Version 3.0.20 Vetinari. I am unable to see anywhere in the menu that determines a default location when VLC starts. Is it possible to set a 'go to' when the application first opens? Hope I am not overlooking the obvious. I have tried from within the program without success.
Any help would be appreciated ...

If you want to open something, you have to pass it on the CLI, as with most programs. There is no default.

Hi Denis
OK. I never use the CLI version (cvlc) as it doesn't have all the controls available as invoking the GUI version (and my friends cannot get used to that approach anyway). I thought that like many Music players, there might be a Library location for one's popular videos. Sorry to here that the CLI version is the supposed standard for users. Maybe it would be a decent option to add to the application's internal menus. Thanks for your post ...
