VLC Media Player not working on Windows 11

Postby CaptainKirkSon » 09 Jan 2024 09:46

VLC Player has been one of the most compulsory software titles on any compute I have had for over 10 years, but now on Windows 11 (Home 64-Bit Ver. 23H2 OS Build 22631.2861) isn't playing ANY audio or video file I have. I have updated to the most current version, and even scoured the internet to find a fix - but nothing.
It will open the file, show the length of the MP3 or Video file, but not move from 00:00 and present a black screen. No movement on the progression bar, no audio, no picture, nothing! I cannot quit the program without having to go Task Manager to force close it with End Task
I have:
  • Disabled Hardware Acceleration
  • Change Network Caching to 1500ms and File Caching to 2000ms
  • Change Default Video Output to DirectX (DirectDraw)
  • Reset Preferences
  • Even gone down a version from VLC 3.0.20 to 3.0.9.2
Computer Specs:
  • Windows 11 OS mentioned above is completely up to date
  • AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12-Core Processor at 3.70 GHz
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti 8GB
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! :(

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com or on Justpaste.it if it's too long.

Thank you to everyone's suggestions. I was suggested on another forum, to roll back my GPU driver to the previous version, and this has resolved the matter entirely. I have also sent the feedback to Nvidia, but it looked like that was the issue!
