Update Troubleshooting for XCB on UnixCompile Page

Postby wq_ » 01 Jan 2024 08:10

On "Get the third-party libraries" section on https://wiki.videolan.org/UnixCompile/, the prefered method for Debian/Ubuntu is by "$ sudo apt-get build-dep vlc". However the build-dep list is missing package "libxcb-xkb-dev" at least for Ubuntu 18.04 and 22.04 (I tested with fresh OSs).

This will result a error message on command "./configure":

Code: Select all

configure: error: No package 'xcb-xkb' found. Pass --disable-xcb to skip X11 support.

Installing "libxcb-xkb-dev" solves the error for me. If this is the correct fix for the error, adding this package to the "Troubleshooting / common problems
" section can save people who are intested in contributing to vlc some time. :) Here is the package info:

Code: Select all

libxcb-xkb-dev/bionic-updates,now 1.13-2~ubuntu18.04 amd64 [installed] X C Binding, XKEYBOARD extension, development files
