DLNA listing caching issues

Using VLC for android my dlna server's listing seems cached way over any reasonable validity (files have been removed in weeks). Looking at the same share on a TV or laptop (also with VLC) I see the correct listing. I emphasize that only the listing that is cached, that is, if I start for example, the second file in a specific folder it will indeed play what is the second file in that folder but the title shown in the listing might be for a file what was there like weeks ago.

Tried scanning, clearing cache they don't help. Clearing app data does but that's quite annoying to do ...
