Backing up and restoring Equalizer Settings

Postby thricipio » 25 Jul 2023 10:22

I want to re-install VLC but prefer to avoid recreating all my EQ settings from scratch. Is there a way to back up my settings and then restore them to VLC after I've completed the re-install?

Thank you.

Not whining really… and not criticizing or even complaining… just remarking…

This seems like a pretty straight-forward question:
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
"Is there a way to back up my [EQ] settings and then restore them … after I've completed a re-install?"

It's just that I'm a bit surprised that no one — at least among those who have viewed this post — seems to know the answer. I assume that anyone among the developers would readily be able to answer this.

Or perhaps this is a colossally stupid question; doesn't warrant an answer and no one has the heart to tell me?

Anyway, thanks to those who have at least taken a look at this question and perhaps just scratched their heads and moved on.

I'm a huge fan of VLC; have gotten great satisfaction from using it for quite some time now and in any case remain indebted to the developers for such a great media player.

Best regards,
— Thri

Lotesdelere–
Thanks so much for pointing me to the referenced and very relevant thread (above).

I recently posted a follow-up clarification to that same thread for anyone who is interested in this particular line of inquiry.

Thanks again…

A little over ten months later, I've decided to achieve the backup/restore capability the old fashioned way; i.e., manually via a listing of my preferred settings.

The following link displays a table of 21 EQ settings that constitute variations on a single "auditory profile" which may offer at least a good starting point for others in my general age bracket⸺that is, not young (see page 2 for a graphic depiction of a single setting). Here's the link:

Best regards… and thanks again to the VLC team for such a great app.
