VLC android custom settings export import backup restore

Postby Adammm » 17 May 2023 14:34

How can we backup (export) and restore (import) the actual vlc app custom settings on Android?

I recently posted a related question pertaining to EQ settings and Lotesdelere was kind enough to point me to this thread.
So it seems like a clarification here might be the more sensible place . . .

I wasn't looking for a feature per sé; rather, merely a way — meaning, there must be a place somewhere that records one's various EQ settings; perhaps in an ANDROID file. Years ago, I asked this question for the Windows environment. And the forthcoming answer pointed me to the right place — in a file or registry entry; I don't recall the specifics.

Anyway, it proved to be immensely useful. You see, I like to have at least a few treble-range settings for each of two bass-range settings. And which one I select will depend on my listening equipment — i.e., speakers or any one of several headphones — as well as the compression level of the media file.

So, again… I thought I'd ask, Is there a way to capture one's EQ settings and then reintroduce those settings to a re-installed VLC/ANDROID environment?

Thanks ahead of time for whatever answers or insights you (or anyone else) may provide.

PS – even if the answer involves a hidden file that can be accessed only with a rooted system, that would still be useful to know. Thanks again.

CORRECTION ☞ "And the forthcoming answer…" ▴▴▴ further reflection suggests the above sentence is inaccurate and (unintentionally) misleading. Now, I'm pretty sure there was never a "forthcoming answer." I think my resolution just came down to hunting around for the names I assigned to my EQ settings. I think I found them in the Windows registry.
