Can VLC media player record from ITVX?

Hi Folks
I'm a bit baffled by setting up VLC to record content on this Win10 PC for watching later.

I managed to record some youtube content a few weeks ago - but can't seem to get that to work now.
I'm particularly interested in recording from the ITVX streaming platform.

Is there an idiot's guide that this idiot could read, please?

VLC can record what it can play.
So if VLC can't parse the video from the site, then no.

Just at the moment I can't persuade VLC to record from youtube - which I know I've managed to do in the past - which is why I was asking if there's a simple guide to setting up the recording process.
I was thinking, if I can get youtube recording working again, then I could try with the ITVX - knowing that I was doing something right.

OK - thanks. So that would seem to say that, under Windows 10, VLC _can't_ record from youtube?
Am I reading that right?

Once again, if VLC can play it then VLC can record it.
So you need to update the youtube.lua file on a regular basis to still be able to play Youtube videos with VLC, hence to record them.

So - to update the youtube.lua file - how would I do that?

I did check in VLC for the latest version of the program, and it said I was already running the latest version.

Looking at https://github.com/videolan/vlc/commits ... outube.lua - it shows a youtube.luac with a date of 19th Nov 2022
- but following the link you gave to the discussion

it looks as if there isn't an update to the lua for youtube at the moment.

I was just trying to record youtube via VLC in order to prove to myself that I was working VLC properly - do you know if
there's anything special about ITVX that prevents VLC from being able to view/record the content?

A proper LUA script which can parse the video URL from ITVX just like youtube.lua does for Youtube.
