media playing in background

Postby fatsblob » 13 Jan 2023 05:29

hey guys
Ive tried to find the correct setting etc but haven't had any luck.
Anyway I have a Asus zenfone 9 with android 13.

When I for example play a audio aac file from the default file manager, vlc starts to play the audio, however
there is no notification or anything to show that its playing. If i swipe down on the notification bar, I can see it playing, however even after I swipe it away, the file keeps playing the background.
So two things.
1. how do you make it, so that vlc shows up in the notification bar that its playing a file, so that I dont have to swip down
2. how do you make vlc stop playing the file when I swipe it away in the notification bar?

The only way I can stop the file from playing is, I have to open vlc, which shows it playing and then close it. But I don't want to be doing this.

What do you mean? You want something shown to you anywhere else than in the notification tray?

Yes, it's the system behavior, I don't like it as well. The notification should be undismissable while it's playing.

I don't understand what you are asking

As you said, you can reopen the app. You can also not swipe the notification or use the widget on your home screen.

what Im asking for, is that when vlc plays something, i'm pretty sure it used to show a banner or something of whats playing with me having to swipe down the notification bar etc.

umm no, thats not what I want to do, I just want to be able to swipe it away on the home screen, and it closes/stops playing it at the same time.

For this last, there is a setting that both stops play and closes VLC when you swipe iit away from Recents. For an on-screen indication you don't have to pull down, the Widget is the best.

Spike1 is right. For your 2nd point, you are looking for is in Settings > Audio > Stop on application swipe.

About the banner, there was never something similar and latest Android version would prevent to do that (apps are not allowed to launch interfaces when they are no in the foreground).
