MP3Gain tag is only read on 2nd play of a file

Postby The Bright Side » 11 Jan 2023 17:16

Hey guys, I have a ton of multichannel music on my computer in various formats, e.g., OGG, FLAC, M4A. On several albums, I am using the following MP3Gain tag in the metadata to raise the gain:

REPLAYGAIN_TRACK_GAIN

When I play them back in VLC, they play at un-amplified volume. Only when I click them again is the gain applied. So bascially, if I listen through an album, the tag is effectively useless because I'd have to restart every song manually to get the gain.

These are my audio settings: https://paste.pics/KWVEV

What am I doing wrong?

This is probably a bug. Patches are welcome

Thanks Rémi, this is good to know. I'm unable to contribute since I have no programming experience, but I'll be more than happy to do testing for you guys if required. Hope somebody can squash this one!
