Videos don't resume and no bookmarks

Hi,

I use VLC on my Fire HD 10 11th Generation (installed via the Google Play Store).

The app works fine in general however I can't get the Resume and Bookmarks features to work.

I have Resume set to ON in the settings but the video always restarts from the beginning when I go back to it.

I tried working around this issue by saving a bookmark before quitting so that I can reload it later but that doesn't work either. If I tap the 3 dots button in the lower right to open the menu and then tap Bookmarks, the UI shows up but tapping the + button in the top right does nothing. No errors or messages, just nothing at all!

I only use the app to watch locally saved MP4 files. I am on the latest version according to the GP Store.

Any ideas how to fix this?

I just tried on the Fire HD 8 (10th generation) and it's working great. What is your VLC for Android version?

I can attest to the resume feature not working after periods of inactivity. For instance, if I'm watching a video using the app through the Windows Phone Link feature and I leave the area and lose the connection to the computer, most of the times it will start the video over. Most of the time the problem occurs after exiting the pop-up window.

Please help.

My VLC doesn't resume or keep bookmarks if I don't have "Remember History" set, or whatever the actual label is. Not sure if this is a bug but it should be fixed. I don't want people knowing my history but I do want VLC to keep bookmarks. So basically if you want VLC to keep bookmarks, you need to allow it to remember your history and present it proudly on screen for all to see.

That's right, bookmarks can be set but don't seem to persist when History is disabled. The idea behind disabling was to satisfy people who don't want others to be able to find traces of their past behavior stored on the phone. It might be nice to allow more precise configuration of what to remember, but it's not a bug.

Hmm, the latest replies in here made me try something and I guess I stumbled into a fix by accident?

I went to see if I had "Playback History" enabled. Since I'm the only one using the tablet I don't mind it. It was already on so I turned it off and then on again.

I then went into Advanced and hit "Clear Playback History" and now everything appears to be working normally. Videos will resume just fine and I can create Bookmarks successfully.

Update...

Ok so it stopped working again tonight.

This time I only unchecked and checked again the "Playback History" setting and it started working again. Looks like this is definitely linked to that setting.

I’m the same here that videos do not resume since latest update one week ago. And happens all the time now.
Also the network download speed has been reduced by about 50%. Was 30MBs prior to latest release, now 12 to 14MBs.
Please fix on next release.
