Don't have 2FA keys for code.videolan.org

Postby ajmas » 20 Dec 2022 21:42

I only seem to have 2FA keys for gitlab.org and not code.videolan.org, so I can't connect. I did try going through my gitlab.org account, but I still get the 2FA prompt.

Can anyone indicate how I can work through this issue?
Providing logs, messages, configuration info (VLC, OS, Hardware) and a clear explanation of the issue always helps the problem solvers help you, even if they don't end up solving the issue. Just think what you would need if you were solving someone else's problem. Additional: Always looking for eager and capable MacOS X developers to join the VLC team - for more information see here.

This 2FA thing is a nightmare, especially for people who just want to help by reporting bugs. There are so many posts about that.
For some reason my account on code.videolan.org is deactivated. Months ago I asked admins to reactivate it but I got no answer yet. When it's about the websites it's taking months, if not years, for things to change and evolve so I've stopped wasting my time with that.

I understand why it’s there, but it really makes your phone key to your existence. You lose your phone and you might as well be a fraud.

I’ll wait a few days and then try the dev mailing list or reach out directly to whoever I can.

Yes, I agree. That and the use of commercial private companies like Google. Especially when it's about to help free and open source software and a non-profit organization on my free time.
Non sense.

There are lots of apps to do the same, that you can run on your machines, locally: 2FA is easy.
