Hi, I have a movie file that VLC opens when on my computer hard drive, but if I transfer the same movie file to an external drive VLC doesn't play, a yellow strip travels along the VLC player, and the file size when on computer hard drive is exactly the same size once transferred to the external drive? Hoping you can help

Sounds like a bandwidth problem. Is this external drive connected by USB ? If so, make sure to use at least an USB 3 plug and wire.

Hi, thanks for the response, yes USB 3 plug and wire are being used, what I have discovered further is even when I transfer the file to my laptop it doesn't play either, so it seems it only works on the original computer where the file was created.
