Can I get VLC to stream screens to iVMS-4200?

Sometime back, I had a meeting with an employer. He was concerned about what his employees might be doing on their PCs in the workplace. He asked if there was a way of recording what they were doing. In this age of digital technology, that should not be difficult, I told him.

I imagined I could somehow get VLC player to start in the background and stream the user's desktop, which would then be captured and recorded by some dedicated machine running iVMS-4200 and a storage server. (FYI: It is possible to get iVMS to record incoming streams.) So to test my theory, I created a virtual machine on VMWare and installed Windows 10, then downloaded the ZIP version (v3.0.17.4) of VLC Player and v3.8.1.4 of iVMS-4200. However, I ran into some issues right away.

Issue #1:
Although I can view guest machine's streaming screen from the host machine on VLC, there is considerable latency, about 5 seconds, I think. That is not very bad, but I wonder if that could be improved.

Issue #2:
I would like to be able to protect the stream with a password, but I don't know how to do that.

Issue #3:
I don't know what sort of streaming I should employ so that iVMS will be able to receive it.

Has anyone ever done anything like that before?
