Can not create Playlists on iPad

Hey there,
I’m running VLC 3.2.13 on an iPad 8 with iPadOS 14.6 and I am not able to create any playlists at all. Works fine though on my iPhone, same setup.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Looks like i can’t access the whole bar on the bottom. Nothing happens when pressing on “Add to Playlist” or any of the other icons.

Hi Does anyone one know whether this issue was resolved? I have an identical problem. Cannot add to Playlist and Icons are unaccessible. On Ipad Pro only. No problem on Iphone. Any help appreciated. Frustrating! Rob

I also cannot create playlists on iPad Air 5, which I bought 10 Sept. 2022. What baffles me is that I was able to create 3 playlists shortly after I bought it, but now I can not make even one new playlist. It should be easier. It is an obvious useful function.

Oh yes, I registered for this forum out of "playlist yearning."

Here is how to do it for iPad VLC. Warning: the method is quite obscure.

0. go to Playlists

1. tap the top right "pencil in the square" icon

2. IMPORTANT Select one playlist with a checkmark in its formerly empty circle.

3. Tap bottom left "add to playlist" -- that is not one's real goal, but do it anyway

4. At the bottom, one is offered the opportunity to Create a new Playlist.

5. This method actually duplicates an existing playlist, so empty the new one out of what it contains, if anything. VLC will tell you it is deleting the item from the playlist only. You are the best judge of whether to believe it. Try it first with an unimportant file.

Judging from the number of posts seeking this information, I anticipate some notice of my post. The developers should consider using less obscure methods so as to reduce user frustration.

Why don't you select media in your library that you'd like to add to a new playlist, create a new playlist and be done with it? Is it because you can't see your media in library as discussed in another post?

Jumping through those loops is not the idea of the interface.

Yes, that is the true precise reason.

It may not be the idea of the interface, and it is a gruesome work-around, but at least it is possible.
