VLC on Sony XR65A90J, no 5.1 sound

Hi

I have a Sony TV XR65A90J with a 5.1 amplifier (Yamaha RXV4A)

When using the pre-installed video player, I get 5.1 sound, perfect, no problems.

But when using VLC with the same files obviously, I get only 2.0 sound, no matter what settings I use for VLC and for the TV (obviously passthrough etc)

Hi,

Same TV, same problem. This TV hosts Google TV. I've updated to latest firmware.

Option passthrough checked in VLC preferences.
Option to stretch audio is disabled in vlc preferences.

Problem : no passthrough . Sound is transcoded to Dolby Digital Plus 2.0, whatever the audio source is.
I can get passthrough using Kodi or the pre-installed multimedia application.

However VLC is better to handle video playing through network and I would really like that passthrough works.

I'd be happy to provide any logs or anything helpful if you tell me what.

I will have a look this week at the office that have a Sony TV.

Hi Team, any updates on this? My SONY TV runs on latest Google TV updates and latest VLC player. I still face the same issue, no 5.1 output while other apps Netflix, amaon prime sends 5.1 output to my Yamaha AV receiver.

PLEASE HELP resolving this problem. I don't have any other player except VLC that works like charm with network / smp content.

What is your VLC for Android version? You can find it in the about card at the bottom of the main screen.
