Toggle "play and stop" on interface or by interface

Postby sfogarty » 07 Sep 2022 07:30

I frequently want to change the behavior of VLC from "play files randomly forever" to "play and stop", and it is awkward going through the "advanced preferences" menu each time. Is there any way to add an interface element for the "Customize Interface" menu, or to key this behavior based on if VLC was started from one interface (web interface) or another (QT interface)? I'm comfortable modifying the HTML interface if there's a way to use sendCommand to do this. I would also be fine with having playlists play files randomly, while files chosen from the media library just play once and stop.. but that seems less likely.

You could pass the command line paramter --play-and-stop when you want the "play and stop" behavior, and keep the other behavior when you don't pass the parameter.

I'm more looking for a way to switch it while VLC is running.
