Video & audio glitch during playback at random times

Postby godzfire » 03 Sep 2022 18:58

I've been using VLC for over 15 years and never had issues playing movies, but within the past maybe 6 months I'm running into problems where at random times during a movie, the video and audio will glitch out at the same time, causing me to have to close and reopen it, which fixes the problem for the moment. Running MacOS Mont 12.4 and VLC 3.0.17.3 Vetinari (Intel 64bit).

Picture example immediately when it occurs. It pixelates the pictures, but if you let it keep playing, the picture will clear up.

Audio example of the sound when it occurs. Unlike the picture, the audio will stay broken like this unless you close/reopen it.

It seems to be related to some of these messages:

Code: Select all

main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 1626 ms) faad warning: Unexpected channel configuration change faad warning: Maximum number of bitstream elements exceeded faad warning: Unexpected channel configuration change faad warning: decoded zero sample

Code: Select all

main warning: playback way too late (396163): flushing buffers main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 1292 ms) main warning: playback too late (149109): up-sampling main warning: playback way too late (191775): flushing buffers main warning: playback too late (136318): up-sampling main warning: playback way too late (221651): flushing buffers main warning: playback too late (85320): up-sampling
Note: I tried running one in Quicktime Player as well and it does the same thing, though instead of the audio garbling going forward like VLC, it will instead cause it to go out of sync by a little bit.
