RW FF 10 seconds buttons gone

Postby Slickone » 12 Aug 2022 18:15

I use VLC to listen to podcasts and used these buttons every time, but then they disappeared. We're they removed in an update? Is there any way to get them back? If not, can someone recommend a similar app? They're a must for me.

This has been asked recently. If you're playing an audio and drag it from the bottom to the top, then it grows a three-dot menu with a relatively new entry "Controls settings" with relevant entries. For me, skipfwd/skipbkwd buttons still appear in the Notification pulldown. Someone else may have a more precise answer.

Yes. When you swipe the file up, the controls settings option is in the menu by the file thats playing at the top. The menu beside the file below that (which is also the one playing) doesn't have it. It's an odd layout design.
Regardless, the controls setting does not have an option to turn the 10 sec buttons on or off.

Are these podcasts audio files or video files? Are you using the app buttons or notification bar?

If they are audio files, you need to change screens to cover mode. Start audio playback, slide the queue up, and press the middle button between the search magnifying glass and the overflow "..." menu. The seek buttons are just above the timeline and can either be tapped (short press) or held down (long press).

If you are playing video files, the seek buttons are hidden by default and need to be enabled via the video Controls settings menu.

If you are using the notification bar, the seek buttons are always visible in the expanded view, but can be shown in lieu of prev/next in the compact view by adjusting Settings->Interface->Seek buttons in notification panel.

You should always have the RW/FF buttons in the player, regardless of the track podcast detection. But they only will be displayed in cover mode.

Make sure that you are in cover mode (See the icon marked "1").
