audio output on chromecast is very low

Postby opinsky » 31 Jul 2022 23:15

I am trying to play a video through the Playback -> Renderer -> Chromecast option. The video file has an audio track that is 5.1 ( Stream #0:1[0x2](und): Audio: aac (LC) (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 48000 Hz, 5.1, fltp, 384 kb/s (default) ). The volume on the chromecast is very low, and barely audible. The volume controls, don't work neither do the equaliztion. The Audio -> Stereo Audio Mode -> Stereo don't work either (meaning the volume continue to be very low). Using Version 3.0.16 Vetinari (Intel 64bit).

If I change the video file audio channel to 2.0 (asynchronously, using ffmpeg) the volume on vlc rendered gets back to normal, which seem to imply that VLC is not able to downmix the 5.1 audio to Chromecast's 2.0 needs.

Is there a fix for this? This is seem to be going on for years now. Any help is appreciated!
