VLC always opens with wrong color balance

I always have to reset the colour balance when VLC starts up. It is always too red. I move the slider left and it comes good. But next time I open it I have to do it again.
There's no way to lock in that change?

Check the menu Tools -> Effects and Filters -> Video Effects -> Essential and/or Colors

thanks for that but you don't understand - that's what I doi to 'reset the colour balance', that's where the slider is.

That's true, I don't understand because there is no Reset Colour Balance option and no colour balance slider in VLC.
