Rotate Video from Horizontal to Vertical

Postby skrontle » 03 May 2022 20:10

How can I rotate a video from horizontal to vertical?

I can rotate a video by clicking Video>Effects and Filters. Is there some way that VLC can automatically determine the orientation? For example, when I open a video made on my cellphone held upright but when I view it in VLC it is rotated 90 degrees (horizontal). How can I make VLC automatically turn it to the correct orientation?

1) Yes, VLC can extract the video orientation from embedded video meta-data.
2) This is entirely automatic and there is nothing to do on the player side. The recording application needs to include the orientation info inside the video file that it generates.
