VLC Not Saving Cover Art

I've been setting up VLC to load and save cover art using Right Mouse Button Add Cover Art From File. It works, but when log off and log back in again the art in the albums directory is gone, though the art in the actual song directory is still there. (I hope that makes sense). If I open the album and go into the song folder, then go back, the album art appears, but it's gone when I reload VLC.

Ideas?

There is a workaround to save the image: after you selected the image from your files, edit something in the metadata, for example the description. The "Save Metadata" Button should pop up at the bottom.
