IPAD VLC not working

Hello everyone, I have an ipad pro and when I used to connect my USB to my IPAD, VLC played all my videos such as mkv flawlessly now I don't know what is going on but my mkv files are not longer playing on VLC. Please someone help me I don't know what to do.

Does this happen to all mkv files or specific ones?

Yes it happens to all files. What I found that actually works is to open videos in a new tab then play them with VLC. Only then does it work. Thank you though.
