I get this too, when starting VLC by tapping a podcast in My Files. This has been mentioned in the past but the Forum won't search for "fd" and I don't remember the outcome. For me, it's an imperfection but not a real annoyance.

It's an Android limitation. When opening a file from a third party app, VLC will only get a temporary link to that file and won't be able to retrieve much information about it (including the file name). In that case, the app won't be able to display anything else than this link (which is fd://[something]).

If these cases are predictable, VLC could display an explanation (such as, "[Filename unavailable]") rather than meaningless (to us) code.
