Playback speed adjustment / display

Postby Sprint900 » 09 Nov 2021 15:06

I have VLC x64 3.0.16 on a new HP ProBook.

With VLC on my previous PC I could change the playback speed, in increments of as little as 1%, via a speed widget in the bottom toolbar, to the left of the volume control, and indeed very similar to the volume control.

Since moving to the new PC, on which I did a completely standard installation of VLC, I don't have this option. Yes, I know that <top toolbar> Playback -> Speed -> Faster / Slower / whatever exists. But for language learning it is incredibly useful to be able to change the speed frequently, just by moving the slider a little.

I've tried all the relevant config options, to no avail. Can anyone help?

TIA, Michael

Hi, you can edit the toolbar with

tool > customize interface

here, add the "speed selector" widget where you want

Indeed, that did the trick. Thank you very much chubinou.

I never knew these customisation possibilities existed, because in ~10 yrs of VLC use I'd never needed them; the "speed selector" widget was always there, thru multiple versions.

Ticket can be closed, client is satisfied :)
