VLC crashes when I open certain file

Postby voidlol » 25 Oct 2021 19:09

I have some file (test sample) in MKV format. When I try to open it on my notebook VLC crashes instantly.
1) VLC plays other files with hardware acceleration without any issues on this notebook
2) VLC won't crash if I disable hardware acceleration, but it's laggy as hell :)
3) This file plays great with default windows 10 media player on that notebook and it doesn't lag in any ways.
4) This file plays great WITH hardware acceleration on all my other pcs via VLC

I have Honor Magicbook 15", Ryzen 5500U, Radeon Vega 7 (iGPU)

Do a full reset of the preferences (the manual way) and try again:

Please file a bug report at https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/issues in case you are able to provide us the file you tested with.

If disabling acceleration works around the problem, it is for better or worse most likely a display driver bug.

That being the case, filing a bug would only result in VLC forcefully disabling hardware acceleration. Be careful what you wish for.
