Converting avi raw to MP4/H265 with subtitles

Hello everyone,

I have an AVI file from an old DV camcoder and a subtitles file (.sub). When I use VLC to convert to MP4/H265 + subs, it does it greatly, but I cannot control the location, size, colour and font for the subs that it adds to the video. I would like the size of the subs to be smaller so less intrusive, for example. Is there a way to achieve this?

.SUB subtitles file are images, you can't modify them. You need to convert them to another subtitles format.
