Taking snippets of video from drone videos

Hi. I'm new to this forum and would like to ask a question re: grabbing video snippets from drone videos. What I'd like to do is, rather than using the whole video shot from a drone footage, I want to take certain shots from the video. Is there some steps I'm missing to do this? Thank you in advance also, not certain if this is the area where to ask for this help.

Menu View then tick Advanced Controls.

If you want to take screenshots from the video then click on the Camera button or use the Shift+S shortcut.
If you want to cut some parts of the video then you can use the Record button or use the Shift+R shortcut.

That said, VLC is not an editor. It will be easier and faster to use a dedicated video editor tool such as AviDemux:
