Mouse scroll rewinding VLC when Window out of focus?

Postby lestat02882 » 10 Sep 2021 04:01

If I scroll with my mouse wheel and VLC is not the Window in focus, the video rewinds. This happens over and over unpredictably. It's a logitech wireless mouse. The hotkey setting for the scroll is Volume control which works just fine when VLC is in focus.

Any ideas?

By 'rewinding' I assume you mean there's a video playing, but for some reason or other you switch to another application such as a browser and scroll down page on that and that action causes vlc to restart the video again from the beginning.

If so, I can't reproduce the problem. Reset preferences and then see if it helps or not: https://wiki.videolan.org/VSG:ResetPrefs

I mean it jumps back a few seconds in the video.

I'll have two windows open. One VLC. The other Chrome. I'll be browsing Chrome. So VLC will not be in focus but the video will be playing. I'll be scrolling downwards in Chrome with my mouse, which works just fine in Chrome. But while I'm doing this, the video in VLC will randomly and often jump backwards a few seconds.

Check the Global field in VLC menu Tools -> Preferences -> Hotkeys

Return to “VLC media player for Windows Troubleshooting”
