Playlist doesn't show correct time tracks

I'm working on Big Sur and the latest VLC Player. When I drop some mp3's to VLC all tracks have incorrect times. A track of 2:30 will for example first show as 6:54 long. It's only when I play each track one by one the time of each track resets itself to the correct time. That didn't happen while I was on El Capitan. I could drop mp3s to VLC and all tracks would show the correct time and it would also show the total time of the playlist. Is that some kind of VLC bug with the latest VLC update? I now have to quickly double click each file so that it plays for a bit from the top file to the last file. So that all files will show the correct time and I get the correct total time. Pretty annoying...
