PLAY while key pressed, STOP on key release - is it possible? (important for foot pedal control)

For questions and discussion that is NOT (I repeat NOT) specific to a certain Operating System.

PLAY while key pressed, STOP on key release - is it possible? (important for foot pedal control)

Postby HHFD » 31 Aug 2021 11:43

Hi,

is it possible to control playback with only one key?

While the key is pressed, the media plays, and stops on release.

This is important for foot pedal control, because some writers are used to this method (the pedal is just permanently pressed for playback, as this is much easier than holding the foot over the pedal).

With the Global Key assignments I managed to control PLAY/STOP/PLAY/STOP/.... with single taps on the pedal, but this is not exactly what I want.

Thanks!

No. VLC internally only handles press events, not depress/release.
