Playlists on Chromecast with Google TV

Hi all. I have a Chromecast with Google TV. All my media files are stored on an external hard drive which is connected to my router. I want to create a playlist that I can run on my Chromecast. I have created a playlist on my PC using the media that is stored on the above mentioned drive - file path \\192.168.0.1/MediaDrive/Music - and I saved the playlist to the external hard drive. When I try to open the file on my Chromedcast, the file wont open and VLC steams to restart and go back to the main menu screen. Because the router and hard drive act as a media server, I think the file path system works differently than accessing it via file explorer on a PC, so this might be where I'm going wrone.

Is there a way to create a playlist that will work given the hardware and network types I have mentioned above through my Chromecast?

Are you using the desktop version of VLC or the Android one?
