main: option sub-original-fps does not exist

The message that I put in the subject field, is what I get when trying to play a .ts-stream movie, coded in mpeg2 and with 1080p resolution. No video whatsoever will show.

My interpretation is that somehow the computer is to slow ( a Powermac G5 1.8 Ghz ???) to play the movie at its original framerate, and that the option of playing it at a slower framerate is not available ??

I have no problems playing 1080p movies coded with Xvid, and that codec should be an even larger load on the CPU than mpeg2. What is wrong ?

are you sure it's mpeg2 and not H264 ?

And that message is what you get when you try to add subtitles to mpeg movie files.

So the message was about subtitles...just shows how little i know !

As for the coding, the ts- files were recognized as mpeg2 by OS X and VLC. I think that it said codec: mpegv in the info-> advanced window.

The movie came with .srt subtitle files in the same folder as the .ts-files.

Unfortunatley, during some cleanup and moving of files & folders, I must have accidently deleted the movie in question. To bad that OS X Leopard is not shipping yet, the feature "Time machine" would have come in quite nicely....

The skipping can also be caused if the time information in the file is incorrect. This is quite a common thing, and VLC is very sensitive to it, because VLC takes timing seriously (unlike most other players)

Reviving this thread again... It was not possible to just deactivate the subtitles.

However, the problem with the subtitles could be solved by just removing every subitle file (.srt) into another folder. Now the movie plays nicely !!

So, if you have a mpeg2 .ts movie with SRT subtitle files, just remove them. If you do NEED subtitles that's another matter...

yea I am also new at this, I have a sub that's .srt for a .avi file but try as i might, i have no clue how to get it to work, what do i need to do?

Google brought me here. I have this error when I try to open subtitles for .m2ts file. Any fix?

Unfortunately, you cannot add external subtitles to .m2ts and .ts files. This might be fixed in a future release of VLC, but is hard to do with the current player architecture.
