I realize I'm late to this party but I found a rather simple fix for this problem on my Windows 10 laptop. Right click Desktop > open display settings > change text, apps, and other items scale to one setting % less than what you have now. Worked for me, no coding required. This change was required by me after changing my display resolution back to "recommended". VLC and my desktop icons needed this change. Hope it works for you.

My 2¢ :

prepend
env QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0
to your launcher. finished product launching an m3u or pls file will look like following:

Code: Select all

env QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0 /usr/bin/vlc --started-from-file /home/USERNAME/Music/awesome.m3u
works well.

I went into properties of vlc and changed high dpi setting. Checked 'high dpi scaling override' and put it to system (enhanced). but this is on windows and youre using a different os. anyway for whoever also has this problem this seems to have worked.
