Video play w/o kde or gnome

Postby Aranto » 02 Feb 2006 10:05

Hi all,

I would like to know if it is possible to play a video through VLC without a graphical interface like KDE or Gnome.
I have an X server install and well configured.
If it is possible, what is the way to do that ?

Thanks in advance !

Aranto.

Hello,

You should be able to play files using vlc without KDE/Gnome etc, but I'm not sure if the nice graphical interface will be avaliable. If it isn't it will revert to the remote control interface (so start it up in xterm or something so you can control vlc - more on interfaces here: http://wiki.videolan.org/index.php/Interface)

Theres a few video modes that work in X, and vlc should probably be able to pick one.
