Commercial license - no response

Postby albercik1985 » 27 Mar 2021 09:54

I would like to use LibVLC in a commercial project so I sent two emails within a week to an email address from this page as requested: https://www.videolan.org/developers/x264.html - no response
Then I wrote on x264 IRC channel - no response
Finally, I wrote to videolan main email address - no response

Can somebody tell me what's going on? Is everybody dead from covid or what?

(Sorry if this is not the right place for this kind of post but I don't know where to ask about this)

x264.org provides commercial licenses for x264, and x264 only. They wouldn't be able to answer questions about licensing anything else.

At this time, no license pools for LibVLC exist. You would need to negotiate a license directly with the respective copyright holders.

OK, thank you,
This is one of the things I inquired about. Still, I got response from x265 guys but not from x264. Will try through this website.

On a similar note, is there somewhere a complete list of needed commercial licenses for LibVLC GPL code? I don't want to miss anything since GPL is a contagious license.

An exact list is something rather tedious to make because it depends on so many parameters, and some people (not me) actually sell consulting on that.

Ok I think I will try that route then. Thanks for your time.
