External subtitles in VLC for Apple TV

Postby michalkrupka » 14 Jan 2021 21:53

Can VLC for ATV display external subtitles? I have Apple TV HD with the newest VLC, files are stored on a SMB server. Video is in a .mkv file and plays correctly, but subtitles in a .srt file of the same name (checked) are not displayed.

Thanks for any help,

Michal

There is a bug with this feature that we are currently checking.

For me it does works (latest VLC, tvOS 14, Apple TV 4K) but I use Cached Media (local media on Apple TV 4K 64 GB storage).

You just need to drag and drop / send the .srt file on the Wireless File sender too, make sure it's the same name.

Although, on the list, they don't sort alphabetically side by side. For some reasons, VLC for tvOS has this weird, almost randomized sorting view.
