VLC Chromecast Audio Device Output Issue

Postby CA-DREAMIN » 06 Sep 2018 19:21

I was really excited to get VLC set up with my Chromecast (Gen 1), but unfortunately the audio will by default come out of my awful in-built TV speakers. I tried to go to Audio --> Audio Device --> and picked the external speakers connected to my laptop in hopes that Audio would play locally through my laptop's aux port into the speakers or even a pair of headphones, but no matter what I pick it only comes out of the TV...anybody know how to fix this???

I'm just wondering if you got a reply to this...I'm still trying to figure the forum situation out. My internal computer speakers work fine, but I connected external Bose speakers via USB port and can't get a thing out of them. I checked device settings for audio and it IS set for the external speakers. I'm just wondering if somebody gave you some advice that might work for me.
I'm running Windows 10 through Firefox.

Did you manage to solve this problem? Of course you can use an additional hdmi audio extractor. But I don't think this is an elegant solution. I think the software can do this better. Now I'm trying to understand how the VLC encodes a video stream, how to extract the audio from there and how to redirect it to another port.
