VLC Android 11 Screen Recording Playback

Postby ClaytonCarney » 10 Nov 2020 19:18

I made a clip on my Pixel 3a using native Android 11 Screen Recording. I can play the clip on my phone and the capture shows all touch gestures, screen updates, etc.

I uploaded the file to Google Drive and playback using the Preview feature works as expected. However, when I download the clip to my Windows 10 desktop and play it with VLC 3.0.11, it appears to be dropping frames, or something, as many touch gestures and screen updates are not appearing.

The downloaded clip plays normally in both GOM and Pot Player. I can even drag the file into Chrome browser and it plays normally.

Never seen anything like this before with VLC. Any idea what might be wrong here?

UPDATE: ffprobe reports the following:

Code: Select all

Please open Tools -> Messages (set Verbosity to 2) before you start the playback, and then paste the full resulting log here or on Pastebin.com if it's too long.

Also upload your original problematic file to Zippyshare.com (200 MB max) or to WeTransfer.com and then post the link to the file here.
https://www.zippyshare.com
https://wetransfer.com

If needed cut it with DGsplit and read here about how to do it:
https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.ph ... 35#p193335
100 MB max should be enough.

Yep, I can reproduce the issue, there are some freezes while it's playing fine with other players.
And I got the same error messages like you:

Code: Select all

main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 1642 ms) main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 1625 ms) main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 1608 ms) main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 608 ms) main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 593 ms) main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 1577 ms) main warning: picture is too late to be displayed (missing 1810 ms)

You should create a new ticket on the VLC Trac with the links to your sample file and to this thread:
