Videos in the Avi xvid mpeg4 container do not play

Hello, I have had a problem with playing video in the * .avi container for a long time (Xvid MPEG-4 see picture).
Previously, Rpi played the video without any problems, after switching to the latest VLC 3.0.11 and Raspberry Pi OS (current version as of 30.10.2020) on Rpi 3B +, I will no longer play videos (unfortunately I was not able to return the older functional version.
When the video starts, the vlc opens sometimes, a yellow line appears at the bottom as if it were working (with the name of the video name) and then stops.
VLC on the smartphone and PC with the given video plays OK. access to video is via LAn on NAS synology (smb).
Unfortunately, I can't find functional advice anywhere with that. Can I ask for advice?

You can use FFmpeg to decode the video, then pipe to VLC. IIRC, you can also use libavcodec directly.
