Tools missing for MAC

Good afternoon,

I am trying to recover a corrupted MP4 file and was lead to VLC via a video from YouTube that allows you to fix it for free. In the video they tell you to go to the tools bar, select preferences, and in the "Damaged or Incomplete AVI file" select "always fix" the only problem is I cannot find a toolbar anywhere on my mac settings. Does anyone know where to find the toolbar?

You can find the settings a bit differently on mac.

Please to to the menu bar, select VLC --> Preferences. Go to input/Codecs on the top bar, then select "Always fix" in the settings below, then click save.
