Can't find gmediarender upnp renderer running on Raspberry Pi

Postby phbcanada » 28 Sep 2020 22:23

I'm running gmediarender on a RaspberryPi model 4B.
I can cast music to it from Android (BubbleUPnP app) and from my iPad (mconnectLite app).

I'd like to be able to play music from my MacbookPro (Mojave 10.14.6) VLC media player 3.0.11.1 Vetinari (revision 3.0.11.1-0-g52483f3ca2) but no renderers are found:

Tried running with -vv and log file. Hopefully relevant portions of the log:

Code: Select all

main debug: looking for renderer probe module matching "any": 1 candidates main debug: no renderer probe modules matched main debug: looking for extension module matching "any": 1 candidates lua debug: Opening Lua Extension module lua debug: Trying Lua scripts in /Volumes/v1/home/Library/Application Support/org.videolan.vlc/lua/extensions lua debug: Trying Lua scripts in /Volumes/v1/home/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/lua/extensions lua debug: Trying Lua scripts in /Volumes/v1/home/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions lua debug: Trying Lua playlist script /Volumes/v1/home/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/VLSub.luac lua debug: Scanning Lua script /Volumes/v1/home/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/VLSub.luac lua debug: Script /Volumes/v1/home/Applications/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/share/lua/extensions/VLSub.luac has the following capability flags: 0x5 main debug: using extension module "lua" macosx debug: Initializing playlist model main debug: looking for services probe module matching "any": 6 candidates main debug: no services probe modules matched macosx debug: Finished loading macosx interface main debug: using interface module "macosx" macosx debug: Starting renderer discovery service Bonjour_renderer main debug: looking for renderer_discovery module matching "Bonjour_renderer": 1 candidates bonjour: starting discovery bonjour debug: ftp does not match current discovery mode, skipping bonjour debug: smb does not match current discovery mode, skipping bonjour debug: nfs does not match current discovery mode, skipping bonjour debug: sftp does not match current discovery mode, skipping bonjour debug: starting discovery for type _googlecast._tcp. main debug: using renderer_discovery module "bonjour"
Any suggestions on how to get this to work?

I've also dumped the relevant SDDP data from gmediarender in case this is helpful:

Hi, VLC unfortunately does not support rendering to UPnP devices yet, only Chromecasts.

Ahh... OK. The "Renderer" menu should probably be labelled "Chromecast" to avoid confusing poor people like me.
