The fix to why VLC cannot start in skinable mode

Postby Psycho » 25 Jan 2006 15:20

hi averybody ... after a long strugle to make VLC start in skins2, i found out that when we install the VLC, the shortcut in the desktop (i prefere to keep it there) if you right clic on it you will see the following :

Target :"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --intf wx
Sart in : "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC"

now the only thing i changed to make VLC start in skinable was the following.
1 delete your preferences in the Application Data\vlc folder
then make sure that you delete the " --intf wx" that you see in the Target :"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --intf wx
because with this comand avery time teh player is saved to start un Skins2 mode it loses the settings from the comand --inf wx that makes it start in wxWigets mode. I dont know why the installation of the program makes it, and i think this is the bug.

After you delete the --inf wx from the Target (right click properties) then VLC lets you save the changes for the skinable mode. Or with the new VLC player that just came out, you can start the vlc with Vlc media player (skin) shortcut in the Start/VideoLan menu and not having problems.

I tried everything i read in the forum but this trik was the only one not to make my vlc automaticly restart all the time.
