Playing one file in a playlist <--> maintaining Looping/Repeat functionality

Postby vlc1300 » 13 Aug 2020 04:25

In VLC 3.0.11.1, say I have a playlist loaded (Repeat Off):
File1
File2
File3

Question: With this playlist, is there any way to just play File1 and no other files?
There seems to be no way to do this without sacrificing functionality. Yes, I could go check Preferences (Show All) | Playlists | Play and pause-- but that breaks the Repeat functionality: Clicking Repeat One and Repeat All will have no longer have any effect if Play and pause is checked.

I guess the makeshift solution is: move File1 to the bottom of the playlist to play it? This plays it once, and allows it to be repeated (if desired), without risking the playing of additional clips. But, it's unsatisfactory.

My objective is to have a (fairly long) playlist, and then play a selected clip once (and stopping), or looping that selected clip. Which I just can't do, apparently, unless I constantly move each selected clip to the bottom of the playlist(?)

Any ideas?
